Flag football is one of the fastest-growing sports today, with more than 20 million participants in 100 countries and counting - the girls are leading the charge! In America, around 474,000 young women between the ages of 6 and 17 played flag football last year. NFL teams across the country are supporting this initiative with 13 states sanctioning 'Girls Flag' as an official varsity sport with support from their local NFL clubs.
The Baltimore Ravens are committed to leveling the playing field with the game of flag football! In 2023, the Ravens launched their first ever Girls Flag pilot league in Frederick County with 10 teams. In 2024, this initiative grew throughout the state of Maryland, including 4 other counties and pushing the total to 53 teams. The Ravens intend to continue to support and expansion in Maryland with hopes of sanctioning by late-2025.
