Ravens kicker Justin Tucker is probably going to get a lot of honors for the season he's having, and they're starting to roll in.
On Wednesday, he was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the first time this season and seventh time in his five-year career.
Tucker was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in September after connecting on all nine of his field-goal attempts, including a 53-yard game-winning kick in the final minutes in Jacksonville.
He still hasn't missed since.
Tucker's 34-straight field goals make up the longest active streak in the NFL. It's the sixth-best run of all time.
Tucker won the weekly award after he hit four field goals, including three from beyond 50 yards (52, 57 and 54), in Sunday's 19-14 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
He became the first kicker in NFL history to nail three kicks from more than 50 yards in the first half of a game. He's the ninth kicker to make three field goals from that range in a game.
Here are some more notes on Tucker's success:
- His 27 successful field goals this season are tops in the NFL. He's 27-for-27 this season, and 15-for-15 on extra-point attempts.
- Tucker's seven field goals from 50-plus yards are a new Ravens single-season record. They are tied for the fourth most in NFL single-season history with six other kickers. The record of 10 was set by former Vikings kicker Blair Walsh in 2012. Walsh was released earlier this month.
- An NFL-high 18 of Tucker's 27 field goals this season have come from 40 yards or beyond. The Detroit Lions' Matt Prater is in second with 13.
- Since Tucker entered the league in 2012 as a rookie free agent, his 157 field goals are the most in the NFL.
- Since extra points were moved back in 2015, Tucker (44-of-44) and Dallas Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey (59-of-59) are the NFL's only kickers yet to miss.
- Tucker is the second-most accurate kicker (89.7 percent) in NFL history behind Bailey (90.6 percent).
