The Ravens have signed veteran Larry Donnell to help bolster a currently thin tight end corps.
With Crockett Gillmore ailing (leg), the Ravens have just Benjamin Watson, Nick Boyle, Maxx Williams and Ryan Malleck. Watson (Achilles) and Williams (knee) are working their way back from major injuries.
Donnell, 28, has been a solid starter and role player for the New York Giants over the past four seasons. He has started 27 of the 64 regular-season games over that span.
His biggest year was in 2014 when he started 12 games and made 63 catches for 623 yards and six touchdowns. Last season, he started six games and posted 15 catches for 92 yards and one touchdown.
The 6-foot-6 Grambling State product went undrafted in 2011 before breaking onto the Giants' active roster in 2013.
The Ravens waived undrafted rookie wide receiver Tim Patrick to make room for Donnell on the roster.
