The Ravens went all-in to lure free-agent wide receiver Jeremy Maclin to Baltimore.
Safety Tony Jefferson invited him to join a Ravens watch party of Game 3 of the NBA Finals at his house last Wednesday night. The next day, Maclin got the full tour of the Under Armour Performance Center and even former Ravens wideout Steve Smith Sr. dropped in to do some recruiting.
But was it the grub that pushed Baltimore over the top when Maclin was making his decision?
His first tweet after signing with the Ravens was pretty standard. His second tweet was not:
Last Wednesday, when Maclin arrived, Jimmy's Seafood extended an offer of free crab cakes for the length of his deal if he signed with Baltimore. A day later, they upped it to crab cakes for life.
Jimmy's Seafood has welcomed many Ravens players through its doors over the years, and offering crab cakes for life is nothing new. They did so in March for a perfect NCAA men's basketball bracket. Last June, they extended the offer to Orioles third baseman Manny Machado.
Who knows, Maclin may fully take advantage if he's such a fan of Baltimore's signature crustacean cuisine. It's not a bad signing bonus!
But let's also not forget the recruiting done by Jefferson and fellow safety Eric Weddle.
