The Ravens held their first practice of the week Wednesday, and the good news is that the team is relatively healthy heading into a critical Week 12 matchup with the New York Jets.
The injury report was thinner than it was been in recent weeks, as just five players were listed and only one was sidelined.
Haloti Ngata Sits Out
Pro Bowl defensive tackle Haloti Ngata continues to be hindered by a knee injury that forced him to miss Sunday's game against the Bears. Ngata did not participate Wednesday, and he has not practiced the last two weeks.
Ngata injured his knee in Week 10 against the Bengals, but was able to finish that game. Sunday's absence was just the third game in the last four years that Ngata has missed.
Head Coach John Harbaugh would not provide any specifics about how close Ngata was to playing or whether the muddy field conditions factored into the decision to sit him.
"There's no reason for us to put that out there publicly," Harbaugh said Monday when asked about Ngata's status.
M. Brown Returns
The other key injury for the Ravens last week was starting wide receiver Marlon Brown, who also sat out against Chicago because of a knee injury.
Brown was back on the field Wednesday as a full participant.
Brown, who suffered a torn ACL in college, first appeared on the injury report last week. He told reporters that he injured the knee in practice but that it does not appear to be a lingering concern.
"I'm feeling good," he said before practice.
Veteran wide receiver Brandon Stokley (thigh), who has not played since Week 3, was also listed as a full participant.
Webb, D. Smith Limited
The only other players listed on the injury report for Baltimore were starting linebacker Daryl Smith (thigh) and cornerback Lardarius Webb (abs).
Both players have been on the injury report in recent weeks, but they have still been able to play and are key pieces on the defense.
Tight end Dennis Pitta also returned to practice Wednesday, but he was not on the injury report because he is currently not on the 53-man roster.
Jets List 10 Injured Players
The Jets had a much larger injury report Wednesday, as 10 players were list.
Wide receiver Santonio Holmes (foot/hamstring) and linebacker Garrett McIntrye (knee) both did not participate, and wide receiver Jeremy Kerley (elbow) and tight end Kellen Winslow (knee) were limited.
The Jets listed six players as full participants, including cornerback Antonio Cromartie (hip), offensive lineman Willie Colon (calf), defensive lineman Kenrick Ellis (back), wide receivers Stephen Hill (knee) and Greg Salas (finger) and quarterback David Garrard (knee).
