Pro Bowl defensive tackle Brandon Williams (knee) is out against the Cleveland Browns, taking a key player from the Ravens' lineup.
With Williams sidelined, rookie fifth-round pick Daylon Mack will make his NFL debut and join the defensive line rotation with Michael Pierce, Chris Wormley and fullback/defensive tackle Pat Ricard, who will likely see increased reps on defense.
Williams practiced this week but was added to Saturday's injury report. He was the first player on the field for pregame warmups, testing his knee while being watched by Head Athletic Trainer Ron Medlin, Defensive Coordinator Wink Martindale and Defensive Line Coach Joe Cullen. They conversed on the field after Williams' warmup concluded, and the decision was made that Williams would not play.
Tight end Mark Andrews (foot) is active as expected, after being questionable with a foot injury. Andrews returned to practice Friday on a limited basis and declared himself ready to play.
Joining Williams on the inactive list are cornerback Jimmy Smith (knee), missing his third straight game; safety Brynden Trawick (elbow) missing his second game; quarterback Trace McSorley, wide receiver Jaleel Scott and offensive lineman Ben Powers.
The Ravens have just six inactives today, because inside linebacker Otaro Alaka (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
Three-Fourths of Browns Starting Secondary Is Out
Cleveland's secondary will be without its starting cornerbacks Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams, along with starting safety Morgan Burnett. None of them practiced all week.
Ward and Williams are suffering from hamstring injuries, while Burnett has a quad injury. Terrence Mitchell and T.J. Carrie are expected to start at cornerback for the second straight week.
A shorthanded secondary could make it difficult for Cleveland to contain Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, who enter the weekend ranked No. 1 in the NFL offensively.
Cleveland also has injury issues on the offensive line but starting right tackle Chris Hubbard (foot) will play after being listed as questionable, while backup tackle Kendall Lamm (knee) is out. Also inactive for the Browns are safety Sheldrick Redwine, defensive end Genard Avery and wide receiver Rashard Higgins.
