Linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo tweeted his goodbye to Baltimore Wednesday evening.
The veteran special teams ace was cut after five seasons with the Ravens, according to ProFootballTalk.
"I would like to thank the city of Baltimore and the Ravens organization for an amazing ride," Ayanbadejo tweeted. "We will forever be united as champions!"
The Ravens have not announced any move regarding Ayanbadejo.
Ayanbadejo signed a reported three-year, $3.22 million contract last year, and was due $940,000 in base salary this year. It's a cap savings of $807,000, according to The Baltimore Sun.
His release would continue the Ravens' youth movement this offseason. Ayanbadejo, 36, has left along with longtime veterans Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Bernard Pollard, Anquan Boldin, Matt Birk and Bobbie Williams.
Besides Ayanbadejo, the Ravens have just two players on the roster over 30 years old: fullback Vonta Leach (31) and cornerback Chris Johnson (33).
Ayanbadejo's departure would leave a void on special teams, where he was one of the unit's leaders, and further lessens Baltimore's depth at inside linebacker.
Last season, Ayanbadejo recorded a career-high 43 tackles from scrimmage and led the team with 14 special teams tackles. He has led his team in special teams tackles seven times in his 10 NFL career seasons.
He started three games at inside linebacker last year when the Ravens were riddled with injuries to Lewis, Dannell Ellerbe and Jameel McClain. With Lewis and Ellerbe leaving this offseason, Ayanbadejo was set to be one of the few returning veterans at inside linebacker.
Now the Ravens seem to have McClain, Albert McClellan, Josh Bynes, Nigel Carr and D.J. Bryant at inside linebacker.
Ayanbadejo has gained national attention as an NFL player advocate of gay marriage. He increasingly dove into the world of politics, and was at the center of a political debate last season with Maryland Delegate Emmett Burns (Baltimore County). The Ravens supported his right to speak.
