One of the best weeks of the year is finally here.
It's Countdown to Kickoff week, presented by Miller Lite, and the Ravens have a full slate of activities to get fans pumped up for the regular-season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 10.
"The fun part of the week is the excitement around the start of the regular season," Vice President of Marketing Brad Downs said. "We want to give people the opportunity to come out and celebrate with their fellow Ravens fans."
The fun was supposed to start with a Purple Pep Rally Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McKeldin Square (the corner of Pratt St. and Light St. in the Inner Harbor), but it has been rescheduled to Friday, Sept. 15, two days before the Ravens' home opener.
On Thursday, it's time to make sure everybody on the road knows who you're rooting for. Fans can get their car stenciled from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Lot D at M&T Bank Stadium. Yes, the spray paint does wash off, but why would you?
Friday is the grand finale with the Countdown to Kickoff Party at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. The concert will feature chart-topping rock band Shinedown with special guest Biffy Clyro.
"This is the second time Shinedown has done the kickoff party with us. They were with us 10 years ago and it was our best kickoff party," Downs said. "We were excited to find out that they were interested in coming back for a second time."
There will be appearances by current players Brandon Williams and Terrance West, as well as Ravens alumni. WBAL-TV will host a live kickoff special, and 98 Rock will also broadcast live from the event. There will be Ravens inflatables, games, concessions and bars.
Purchase your standing-room only tickets now for $15 or pay $25 on the day of the event. Admission is free for children under two, and it's open to all ages. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the live music begins at 8:10 p.m. with Shinedown taking the stage at 9:10 p.m.
