The Ravens lost a pair of starters when inside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and tight end Ed Dickson went down with injuries Sunday against the Chargers.
Dickson suffered a sprained knee and Ellerbe has a foot/ankle injury, Head Coach John Harbaugh announced Monday.
The good news, however, is that neither injury is considered major – Dickson does not have any ligament damage – and the Ravens are optimistic that both of them could be back on the field Sunday against the Steelers.
"The practice for those two guys will be very limited this week, and we'll try to get them to the game on Sunday," Harbaugh said.
Dickson went down on a kickoff in the first half and Ellerbe suffered an injury in the second half. Neither of them returned to action.
Veteran Billy Bajema stepped in for Dickson, while linebackers Josh Bynes and Brendon Ayanbadejo filled in for Ellerbe.
"They stepped up really well," Harbaugh said. "Josh played really solid, physical, downhill football like he always does. Brendon Ayanbadejo really played well. He was all over the field."
The Ravens are also hoping to get defensive end Pernell McPhee back in the lineup this week after he has missed the last four games with a thigh injury.
"He practiced this week and we'll be hopeful that he can play," Harbaugh said. "We'll have to see."
