Director of College Scouting David Blackburn, who joined the Ravens in 2007, has been named the Director of Player Personnel for the Washington Commanders.
Blackburn became Baltimore's director of college scouting in 2022 after spending two years as a national scout and seven years as the West area scout. He originally joined Baltimore as a player personnel assistant in 2007 and has steadily risen in the personnel department. He was named by his peers in 2021 as one of the top 10 scouts in the AFC.
In December of last year, Blackburn participated in the NFL's Front Office & General Manager Accelerator Program, part of the league's continuing efforts to strengthen the pipeline of diverse candidates across all levels. Clubs were asked to nominate individuals for the program who were vetted by an NFL selection committee. Blackburn and Assistant Director of Player Personnel Mark Azevedo were selected to participate.
Following this year's draft, Blackburn joined General Manager Eric DeCosta and Head Coach John Harbaugh to share their thoughts with the media on the Ravens' class.
Blackburn will join a Commanders front office that is being reshaped by new General Manager Adam Peters.
