Art Modell did so much for the Ravens.
On Friday, his son David came to the team's training facility to show his thanks.
He was especially touched by the hospital visit that Owner Steve Bisciotti, Head Coach John Harbaugh, linebackers Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs, safety Ed Reed and defensive lineman Haloti Ngata made to his father the night before he died.
"I think [that] easily rivaled my father receiving the Super Bowl trophy in 2000," David said. "It was one of the most special moments of my life that I will never forget.
"It is no surprise this organization is in a position to succeed because it is filled, filled with wonderful, warm and kind people."
Modell personally invited fans to his father's viewing at M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Some of the late owner's friends and former players are expected to be on hand, including the franchise's very first draft pick, tackle Jonathan Ogden.
"We know that 'Poppy' had this incredible love affair with Baltimore, and that Baltimore had this incredible love affair with my father," David said. "So, we felt it would be a tragedy if we didn't give the community a chance to express themselves directly to him.
"We will be very proud to be with 'Poppy' there, and we look forward to welcoming as many Ravens fans and 'Poppy' fans and Art Modell fans there for as long as it takes."
Art Modell's funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Baltimore Hebrew Congregation. In lieu of flowers, the Modell Family asks that contributions be made to The SEED School in Baltimore.
