Ed Dickson will make his return to the field Thursday night.
The fourth-year tight end is active and expected to start in the season opener Thursday night against the Denver Broncos. * *Dickson missed the entire preseason after suffering a slight hamstring tear early in training camp, but he returned to practice last week and was a full participant this week.
The other good news for the Ravens is outside linebacker Pernell McPhee (knee) is active after being limited in practice at some points during the week. McPhee told reporters this week that he felt "great," and he will be part of the defensive front looking to chase down quarterback Peyton Manning.
The inactive players for the Ravens are defensive tackles Arthur Jones (illness) and Brandon Williams (toe), wide receiver Deonte Thompson (foot), offensive linemen Jah Reid and Ryan Jensen (foot), wide receiver Aaron Mellette and outside linebacker John Simon.
Jones is dealing with an undisclosed personal health issue and needs to undergo additional tests before returning to the field. Williams appeared on the injury report this week after playing all four of the preseason games. Thompson and Jensen both suffered their injuries during training camp.
Mellette, Reid and Simon are all healthy scratches, as teams can only dress 46 of their 53-man roster.
For the Broncos, their most notable scratch is cornerback Champ Bailey (foot). With the 12-time Pro Bowler sidelined, the Broncos will likely turn to Tony Carter to get the start.
The other inactives for the Broncos are cornerback Quentin Jammer, running back C.J. Anderson quarterback Zac Dysert, guards John Moffitt and Chris Kuper, and tight end Joel Dreesen.
