History

The Ravens lead the regular season series, 6-4. The Bills won the lone playoff game between these teams in 2021.

They last met in Week 4 of 2022, when the Bills overcame a 17-point deficit to defeat the Ravens, 23-20, in Baltimore. The Ravens dominated the first 25 minutes and jumped to a 20-3 lead, but the Bills tied the game late in the third quarter.

The Ravens went for it on fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line on their last possession, but Lamar Jackson was intercepted in the end zone with 4:09 left. Allen calmly led the Bills downfield, and Tyler Bass kicked the game-winning 21-yard field goal as time expired.

Stakes

The Ravens have an opportunity to climb back to .500, but they could also fall to 1-3 for the first time since 2015. Baltimore is an NFL-best 20-3 in primetime games under Head Coach John Harbaugh, and knocking off the undefeated Bills would keep the good vibes going for the Ravens after last week's win in Dallas. The Bills can start 4-0 for the first time since 2020 and want to keep pace with the Chiefs (3-0) and Steelers (3-0), who are the other unbeaten teams in the AFC.

Key Storylines

Will the Ravens' defense control Josh Allen?

Allen has the highest quarterback rating (133.7) in the NFL and is the early favorite to win the MVP. He has always made big plays, but he's also avoiding turnovers with seven touchdown passes, no interceptions, and just one lost fumble.

The Bills lead the league in scoring and Allen completed passes to 10 different targets in Week 3. His four passing touchdowns against the Jaguars all went to different receivers. The Ravens have surrendered the most passing yards in the NFL and have been attacked in the middle of the field. Facing Allen will severely test Baltimore's pass coverage, and he loves playing under the lights, with a 6-1 career record on "Sunday Night Football."

Can the Ravens run wild like they did in Dallas?

The Bills use five defensive backs as their primary personnel grouping, but they've been solid against the run, surrendering just 3.4 yards per carry. Buffalo has jumped to early leads, leading the league in first half scoring and forcing opponents to abandon the run and play catchup.

The Ravens may counter Buffalo's strategy by giving the ball to Henry early and often. They did that against Dallas when he rushed for a season-high 151 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Bills starting linebackers Terrell Bernard (pectoral) and Matt Milano (bicep) are both out, which could make them more susceptible defending the run. The Ravens rolled for a league-high 274 yards rushing against Dallas and using that ground attack to control the clock and keep Allen off the field could be a winning formula.

Will Baltimore solve its fourth-quarter woes?

The Ravens have been outscored 35-7 in the fourth quarter over the last two games and flirted with losing a 22-point lead against Dallas. They lead the league in penalties and have made costly mental and physical errors, leaving them 1-2 despite outgaining all three of their opponents in yardage. Winning teams like Buffalo often capitalize on opponents' mistakes, and Allen has 13 fourth-quarter comebacks during his career. It may take Baltimore's best fourth quarter of the season to win.

666: Talking Lamar Jackson-Josh Allen, Why We're Not Worried About Justin Tucker, Yannick Ngakoue & Previewing the Bills

Team insiders, Ryan Mink and Garrett Downing, discuss the magnitude of Sunday night's Ravens-Bills game, why Baltimore has been so good at home in primetime, why this year's challenge against Josh Allen is different, and much more.

Players to Watch

ILB Roquan Smith

Smith's the tone-setter for Baltimore's defense and despite winning against the Cowboys, the defense wasn't happy about the way it finished the game. Smith has never faced the Bills since joining the Ravens and hasn't played Buffalo since 2018. He'll be stoked for this one.

K Justin Tucker

The most accurate field goal kicker in history has missed a field goal in three straight games, working through technique issues. Tucker is confident he’ll get back on track, and the Ravens are as well. If this game comes down to the final minutes, the outcome could be decided by Tucker's leg.

RB Derrick Henry

It was not a coincidence that the Ravens won their first game when Henry had his best performance since joining them. During his eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans, they were 33-9 when Henry rushed for at least 100 yards. Another strong game from Henry could tilt this important early-season game in Baltimore's favor.
