The Harbaugh brothers are at it again.
Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh and 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh have led their teams to their respective conference championships for the second straight year.
John has been an NFL head coach for five years and will be making his third trip. Jim will be making his second trip in as many seasons.
On Monday, John was asked what that feat says about the Harbaugh family coaching DNA.
"Haven't taken a DNA sample lately," Harbaugh said with a laugh.
"It's a pretty cool thing. I'm very proud of Jim. We've had a couple conversations since. It's probably been more [about] football than that."
The two coaches talked about the Ravens' upcoming opponent, the Patriots.
San Francisco beat the Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Dec. 16 after surrendering a 28-point third-quarter lead. San Francisco won in a shootout, 41-34.
While John said he and Jim will probably talk some more about that game and declined to reveal any of their conversation, he also said his brother wasn't providing any revelations.
"What is there to say? There's nothing that they have that we don't have," Harbaugh said. "When you get a lead it's going to be tough to hold onto. I think we might have mentioned that once or twice."
The Harbaugh brothers each lost in their conference title games last year, both in part due to late-game special teams gaffes. Former Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff shanked a game-tying 32-yard attempt. San Francisco wide receiver Kyle Williams fumbled a punt return in overtime.
But this is a new year, and the Harbaugh brothers have another chance to possibly lock horns in a Harbaugh Bowl. John won the only meeting between the two, 16-6, last season.
When asked whether they talked about the chance of facing each other in the Super Bowl, John grinned.
"Not that we'd ever admit to," he said.
