In an August story in GQ, Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Ramsey sounded off on 25 NFL quarterbacks.
Let's just say he doesn't subscribe to the adage, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Here’s the summary of who Ramsey said was good, just OK, and not so good.
When it comes to Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, however, Ramsey is most definitely a believer.
"He's the truth," Ramsey said Wednesday at the Pro Bowl.
"I think last year around draft time, I tweeted that he should have been the No. 1 pick. That was nothing to nobody else, but I just thought that he was that good. He came in this year, he did a great job to lead the Ravens to the playoffs. Yeah, that's my guy."
Ramsey's praise of Jackson is nothing new. He was also complimentary of him in the GQ story, saying in August that he would have picked Jackson earlier than No. 32 overall.
"I think he's gonna do a good job," Ramsey said last August. "Especially with the [Ravens'] offensive coordinator — he likes running quarterbacks, likes that read option."
Jackson and Ramsey won't meet in an NFL game until 2020. However, Ramsey's opinion may have been swayed by college meetings between Jackson's Louisville and Ramsey's Florida State. Jackson had three excellent games against the Seminoles.
They were on the field together in 2015, when Jackson threw for a season-high 307 yards and threw three touchdowns in a loss. In 2016 (Ramsey's first year in the NFL), Jackson beat Florida State with 216 yards passing, 146 yards rushing and five total touchdowns. In 2017, Jackson again toppled Florida State with 156 yards passing, 178 yards rushing and two scores.
