Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley are injured and even No. 3 quarterback, Joe Fagnano, is dealing with an ankle injury, but that won't stop the undrafted rookie from making his first career start Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Head Coach Jesse Minter announced Tuesday that Fagnano will be under center as the Ravens (4-4) try to snap a three-game skid at M&T Bank Stadium.
"He's cool, calm and collected; doesn't really get rattled, has a really good demeanor, played in a bunch of games in college. So, you certainly feel good about it," Minter said of Fagnano.
"I thought we operated really well when he was in there in the preseason, just from time on the play clock and penalties and substitutions. So, I am excited to see him go out there Thursday."
Fagnano took the practice field Tuesday with his right ankle heavily taped, but was still a full participant. Asked how his ankle felt, Fagnano simply said, "Fine."
"My job is to play to the best of my ability," Fagnano said.
Fagnano took a low shot from Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver at his legs during Sunday's loss in Buffalo. He was hobbling after the play but finished the game.
The short week puts even more strain on the Ravens' reshuffled quarterback situation, but Baltimore pivoted quickly.
Last week, Jackson, Huntley and Fagnano were the Ravens' quarterbacks on the practice field. This week, it's Fagnano, Kedon Slovis and Austin Reed.
The Ravens plucked Slovis off the Green Bay Packers' practice squad. He had a strong preseason with the Arizona Cardinals and has familiarity with Ravens Quarterbacks Coach Israel Woolfork, who coached him last season in Arizona.
Reed spent part of training camp and the preseason with the Ravens and was re-signed to the practice squad on Monday.
Besides Jackson and Huntley, the only other Raven on the 53-man roster who didn't practice due to an injury was safety Jaylinn Hawkins (knee). Hawkins hasn't practiced since Oct. 21.
Kicker Tyler Loop (right groin) was moved to injured reserve. Veteran defensive lineman Calais Campbell got another rest day.
Jake Moody, who is currently on the practice squad, will be the Ravens' kicker against the Jaguars.
The Ravens do still have three players who were limited both days in practice this week: starting right guard Roger Rosengarten (ankle), starting left guard John Simpson (back), and nose tackle John Jenkins (knee).
Leading Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten (foot), who has the 15th-most rushing yards in the NFL this season (492), did not practice again Tuesday and it appears his status for Thursday night is in question.
