Lamar Jackson Wins Weekly Award for Third Time This Season

Player of the Week-1920x1080 LJ (1)

Lamar Jackson is riding a wave, and the awards keep rolling in.

Jackson has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after his brilliant performance on "Thursday Night Football" against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Jackson has won the award 13 times in his career, including Weeks 5 and 7 this season. He joins Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles as the only players in either conference to be named Offensive Player of the Week three times in 2024.

Trailing the Bengals by 14 points in the third quarter, Jackson (25-of-33, 290 yards, four touchdowns) led Baltimore to a 35-34 comeback victory. He threw three touchdown passes and had a perfect passer rating in the fourth quarter.

In the third quarter, Jackson made like Michael Jackson, dancing down the sideline on a remarkable 10-yard run that ignited the offense.

Jackson is on a torrid stretch that could lead to his third Most Valuable Player award. He has a passer rating of at least 100 in eight straight games, joining Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Aaron Rodgers as the only players to do that in a single season.

The Ravens have the NFL's top-ranked offense and Jackson leads the league in passer rating (123.2), yards per attempt (9.3), touchdown to interception ratio (24-2), and total offense (3,207 yards). He's also tied for first in touchdown passes (24) with Joe Burrow and Baker Mayfield and is second in passing yards (2,669) just three yards behind Burrow (2,672), who has attempted 70 more passes than Jackson.

Baltimore has won seven of its last eight games heading into Sunday's AFC North showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers (7-2) and Jackson is having his best overall season, singularly focused on winning the Super Bowl.

"Lamar Jackson brings a different level of intensity and carries the team on his back week-in and week-out," Mark Andrews said. "For us, again, it's belief, it's not quitting, and understanding that we have the best player in the world on our team, and we're never out of it."
