Lamar Jackson has put on many shows on the primetime stage.
The performance he had on "Monday Night Football" in Tampa Bay in the Ravens' 41-31 rout may have stolen the spotlight.
Jackson threw five touchdown passes and nearly posted a perfect game at Raymond James Stadium, rallying the Ravens from an early deficit with 34 unanswered points and six straight scoring drives.
"He'll go down in the history of Monday Night Football, for sure," Head Coach John Harbaugh said. "He's got a lot more to go."
Jackson went 17-of-22 passing for 281 yards. He also ran nine times for 52 yards.
Jackson had another five-touchdown day against the Rams on "Monday Night Football" during his first MVP season. Monday night's game was another statement that Jackson is firmly in position for a third MVP award.
He doesn't care about that though. He doesn't care about the stats, either. Jackson only showed interest in two things after the game – his teammates and the lead block laid for running back Derrick Henry.
Jackson's block on Henry's 39-yard-run in the fourth quarter said everything anyone needs to know about Jackson. The Ravens were already leading by 16 points. Most quarterbacks would let that one go, but not Jackson.
"That's unbelievable somebody as a quarterback and his caliber to be that unselfish blocking downfield," Henry said. "That's the type of guy that can have a helluva game and don't even know any stats. All he knows is the guys he threw to and the guys who scored. The dude's just incredible. I think he's the GOAT for sure."
Jackson's other favorite moments of the night were throwing two touchdown passes to Mark Andrews, who Jackson was frustrated he didn't get into the end zone earlier this season. Jackson seemed more hyped after the game about Andrews surpassing Todd Heap's franchise record for career receiving touchdowns than Andrews was.
"That's crazy, man. We've been at it for a few years now," Jackson said. "That's great for Mark. I feel like he should have been had that last year, but we made it happen. It's only more touchdowns from here, no doubt."
Jackson was also pumped for wide receiver Rashod Bateman, who set a career high with 121 receiving yards on four catches, including a 49-yard touchdown on a perfect bomb from Jackson.
"The media said that me and Lamar don't have a connection, but we do, and we showed it tonight," Bateman said. "Shoutout to Lamar for delivering the ball. Appreciate you, 8."
Jackson downplayed his performance yet again. He said he's not any more locked in than usual. He said the national stage didn't matter to him, commenting on the pleasant humidity instead.
"I'm chasing something right now, so each and every game is going to be the same thing for me," Jackson said. "I'm going to be the same person. Every game, I'm trying to win."
