Rookie cornerback Nate Wiggins, who left Friday night's preseason game in the third quarter, did not suffer a serious injury according to Head Coach John Harbaugh.

Wiggins' injury occurred when he dove to tackle Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver Lew Nichols for a one-yard loss. After the play, Wiggins went to the medical tent where he spent a few minutes and then walked inside accompanied by the team's medical staff.

Wiggins had a strong preseason debut with three passes defended on the opening drive and sticky coverage throughout. Harbaugh did not offer a timetable for Wiggins' return, but the update was good news for the Ravens' first-round draft pick.

"Wiggins is not a serious injury," Harbaugh said.

Harbaugh also gave a positive update on All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton, who suffered an apparent lower body injury late in Sunday's practice.

"Obviously we'll continue to do some tests tonight and tomorrow to make sure, but first indications are that he's fine," Harbaugh said regarding Hamilton.

Harbaugh also gave health updates on other players:

  • Rashod Bateman, who missed his third straight practice on Sunday, is expected to return soon. "I don't want to speak for him, but I think he's right there," Harbaugh said.
  • David Ojabo, who practiced Sunday after not being cleared for the preseason opener, is expected to see preseason action at some point. "That's up to the doctors," Harbaugh said. "They decide that. They just didn't clear him for this game, but I'm anticipating he will be. But we'll see. He practiced full speed today, looked pretty good."
  • Rookie outside linebacker Adisa Isaac continued to ramp up his practice routine and participated in some 11-on-11 drills Sunday. "You can see his speed," Harbaugh said.
  • Rookie cornerback T.J. Tampa remained on the PUP list following sports hernia surgery but is getting closer to being activated. Tampa worked on a side field Sunday with athletic trainers. "It's probably not this week, but he's getting close," Harbaugh said.

Daniel Faalele 'Passed Test' at Right Guard

After starting his career as a tackle, Faalele has moved to guard this summer, and Harbaugh Faalele's arrow is trending up. Listed at 6-foot-8, 380 pounds, Faalele would be the biggest starting guard in the NFL if he wins the job, and his movement Friday night impressed Harbaugh.

"I thought he made a jump in the game, pass protection especially," Harbaugh said. "He was really good with his feet, punched well, stayed square, stayed in front of people. Run game, he was good too. I would say he passed the first test. Keep building from there and get to the next game. Big week of practice this week to keep building, but I was happy with Daniel."

Harbaugh Not Ready to Name Starting Offensive Line

After evaluating Friday night's game action on videotape, Harbaugh liked what he saw from the offensive line but was not ready to name the starters for Week 1.

"How close are we to naming it?" Harbaugh said. "Probably another game, maybe two games, honestly."

Harbaugh said the offensive line was cohesive Friday night. Josh Jones (left tackle), Andrew Vorhees (left guard), Ben Cleveland (center), Daniel Faalele (right guard), and Patrick Mekari (right tackle) started, with Roger Rosengarten rotating with Mekari.

"I did think the offensive line played well," Harbaugh said. "You go back and you watch the tape, from a run blocking standpoint and a pass blocking standpoint, man for man I thought they played well.

"I thought Ben played well at center. Maybe he's a center, but he can also play guard. Vorhees was very consistent."

Harbaugh said Rosengarten, the rookie second-round pick, would likely see his playing time increase Saturday against the Atlanta Falcons.

"Rosengarten was very consistent," Harbaugh said. "Pat played well and Josh played well at left tackle, so Roger's reps were a little less. We'll get Roger some more reps in practice this week. There's nobody in that group of guys you're talking about that didn't look like they could play."

Devontez Walker Dealing With Rib Issue

Rookie wide receiver Devontez Walker hopes to be part of the wide receiver rotation on Sundays, but he did not have a catch against Philadelphia and was targeted just once. Harbaugh expects Walker to become more involved as his health improves.

"He's been dealing with a rib thing," Harbaugh said. "He's been a little limited with that. It should be good this week. I'd like to see him get out there and take a lot more reps and really see what he can do."

The Ravens' recent signings of Russell Gage and Anthony Miller have added to the competition for roles at wide receiver.

"Why not take a look at these guys and see what they can do, see if they can make a push," Harbaugh said.
