It's Ray Lewis' "last ride," but his friend Ed Reed won't be following him off into the sunset.
The Ravens' 34-year-old safety made it clear he's not retiring after this season – whether Baltimore wins Super Bowl XLVII or not.
"Nah, it's not my last ride," Reed said with a smile Thursday. "I just bought a bike."
Reed was pressed for a more definitive, serious answer.
"I'll be playing next year, if that's what you all are asking," Reed said. "Next question."
It would seem to be a logical time for Reed to possibly hang it up if he were to win next Sunday. The 11-year pro could end his career with a Super Bowl title in his home city of New Orleans.
But Reed still plays at a high level and has a passion for the game. He is also set to be an unrestricted free agent after this season, so he could get one more payday whether it's in Baltimore or somewhere else.
Reed hasn't flashed too much in the postseason yet. He has gone seven games without an interception, and in his last two games Reed has logged a combined five tackles and no pass deflections.
However, Reed's eight career postseason interceptions are the most among active players. And he would love nothing more than to touch the Lombardi Trophy.
"I don't need anything else in life outside of my son graduating college," Reed said. "I'm set. I'm good right now."
