It didn't take long for Lamar Jackson to give new teammate Patrick Queen a nickname.
Jackson and Marquise Brown went on Instagram Live to watch the Ravens draft Queen, and the video got plenty of traction on social media, especially since Jackson called Queen "Ray Lewis Jr."
What did Queen think about it?
"I loved it. It's a big standard to look up to, but hey, I'm ready for it," Queen said. "The challenge is there and I've got to take it."
Mentioning a rookie in the same breath as Lewis is asking a lot, but Queen is taking it in stride. He's glad that Jackson and Brown were so excited when they saw that Queen was the Ravens' choice. He's already looking forward to going head-to-head against Jackson in practice, knowing that the experience will help him develop as a rookie.
"It brings chills, a little excitement, knowing I got their support already because you can hear them comment on everything I did," Queen said. "Each little highlight clip that came up they commented on. It seems like I've got those guy's support already. "
Queen grew up a Dolphins fan but has long looked up to Lewis. He said he reached out to the Hall of Fame linebacker before LSU's national championship game but didn't hear back. It didn't seem to matter, as Queen still was the game's Defensive MVP.
But now, Queen is looking forward to meeting Lewis at some point. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps' advice to the rookie was to link up with Lewis as soon as possible.
