History
The Ravens lead the all-time series, 5-1 They last faced the Cowboys in 2020 at M&T Bank Stadium, and the Ravens prevailed, 34-17, in the only Tuesday night game in franchise history.
In the last meeting, Lamar Jackson returned to action after missing the Pittsburgh game the week before with COVID. He had a huge night against the Cowboys, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for 94 yards and a touchdown. The Ravens rushed for almost 294 yards.
666: Talking Lamar Jackson-Josh Allen, Why We're Not Worried About Justin Tucker, Yannick Ngakoue & Previewing the Bills
Team insiders, Ryan Mink and Garrett Downing, discuss the magnitude of Sunday night's Ravens-Bills game, why Baltimore has been so good at home in primetime, why this year's challenge against Josh Allen is different, and much more.
Stakes
No team has ever won the Super Bowl after starting 0-3. Only one team since 2000 has made the playoffs after starting 0-3 – the 2018 Houston Texans. The Ravens knew their early season schedule would be challenging, and losing their first two games has made this visit to Dallas feel like a must-win.
The Cowboys will be trying to bounce back from a 44-19 home loss to the Saints in Week 2. That defeat ended Dallas' 16-game home winning streak during the regular season.
Key Storylines
Can the Ravens keep All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons from ruining their day?
Baltimore's offensive line struggled to keep Chris Jones and Maxx Crosby from pressuring Jackson. Parsons is a dangerous pass rusher who attacks from various positions and harasses quarterbacks consistently despite being double-teamed often. A big game by Parsons could mean a long day for the Ravens' offense.
Will Derrick Henry feast on the Cowboys run defense?
Saints running back Alvin Kamara scored four touchdowns in Week 2 and had a field day (20 carries, 115 yards) against Dallas' banged-up defense. This will be a homecoming of sorts for Henry, who lives in the Dallas area during the offseason. A signature performance from Henry could turn this game in Baltimore's favor by neutralizing Parsons and keeping the Cowboys' offense off the field.
Can the Ravens' pass defense hold up against the Cowboys?
Baltimore's defense has given up the most passing yards in the NFL (257 yards per game) through two weeks. That's startling for a Ravens secondary that includes proven players such as Marlon Humphrey, Kyle Hamilton, Brandon Stephens, and Marcus Williams. Quarterback Dak Prescott and top receiver CeeDee Lamb have watched film all week, studying what the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders did to Baltimore. The Ravens need to find a solution to keep the Cowboys' aerial attack in check.
Here are five matchups to look out for in the Ravens-Cowboys game.
Players to Watch
QB Lamar Jackson
Jackson has lost three consecutive starts (dating back to last season's playoff loss) for the first time in his career, and it may take an MVP-like performance from him to get the Ravens on the right track. Jackson was drafted by the Raves in AT&T Stadium in 2018. Jackson will try to have another memorable day making his first start in the building where he was drafted.
LT Ronnie Stanley
Stanley returned to practice Thursday after missing Wednesday (ankle) and was Baltimore's highest-graded offensive lineman in Week 2, according to Pro Football Focus. The Ravens need a strong performance from their most experienced offensive lineman protecting Jackson's blindside.
CB Brandon Stephens
Stephens had his hands full with Davante Adams in Week 2, and Lamb is a gifted playmaker who can make catches even when tightly covered. Prescott is an aggressive quarterback who will make risky throws, and Stephens will look for opportunities to make Prescott pay.
