Which Ravens Non-QB Could've Played Under Center?

WR Zay Flowers
WR Zay Flowers

The Ravens are very much set at quarterback with Lamar Jackson.

But who could've played the position had they gone a different route? Who would be the emergency emergency emergency signal-caller?

We asked several Ravens which non-quarterback they would want starting, but they also weren't allowed to pick quarterback turned wide receiver Malik Cunningham.

Here's what they said:

OLB Kyle Van Noy

Van Noy: I could play quarterback. Hell, yeah.

Did you ever play quarterback?

Van Noy: When I was younger. It stopped in Pop Warner. But I should have [played in high school].

Did you play offense at all in high school?

Van Noy: I actually played receiver. A lot of people don't know that. You didn't see me hurdle that dude during the game? I hurdled the running back and the guard hit me out of the air. You have to go back on tape and watch.

I'll watch the all-22 on that. Did you ever run any trick plays and throw a pass in high school?

Van Noy: Yeah. I played baseball. I thought I was going to get drafted. I mean I should have. I threw out my arm. I pitched. I threw gas.

TE Charlie Kolar

Kolar: Me. I played in high school

You were the starting quarterback in high school?

Kolar: No, I played like one game my freshman year. But it's ironic you ask this because we had this argument today. It's got to be a tight end because they're the only position group ... I guess you could say running back. Ah, [dang] it.

I would say Derrick [Henry], No. 1, but then No. 2 myself. It's got to be a running back or a tight end because it's got to be someone who knows the run game and the pass game. The problem with putting a receiver out there is they don't know the run game, so they don't know how to hand the ball off and that stuff.

I think I'd be decent at it. Because I have my role, but I also have to be ready in case Mark [Andrews] or Isaiah [Likely] or Pat [Ricard] get tired or have to go take a dump. So I know most of the offense, but I do know that playing quarterback is pretty hard, so I'd have to get a little better at that, but I think I could give it a shot.

A couple years ago someone on the Broncos (Kendall Hinton) had to step in and he might not have completed a pass. (Hinton went 1-of-9 with two interceptions)

Kolar: I could complete a pass. I'll throw it to Justice [Hill] on a checkdown.

OLB Odafe Oweh

Oweh: Probably Zay [Flowers], if he had them skills.

Just because of his speed and everything?

Oweh: Yeah. The speed and quickness. Kind of like a Lamar skillset. If he could throw the ball, that would be cool.

WR Nelson Agholor

Agholor: What kind of offense are we going to try to run?

The current offense.

Agholor: Me.

Have you ever played quarterback?

Agholor: Little league. High school backup quarterback.

Did you ever throw any passes in high school?

Agholor: I've thrown a pass in the NFL. To Nick Foles.

Oh yeah, on a 'Philly Special.'

Agholor: It was the second one. We did the Philly Special opening day in 2018 versus the Atlanta Falcons, Thursday night. It wasn't the best pass, but it was a completion. I'm 1-for-1.

Is there any other guy that you think would be a good pick?

Agholor: I mean I think we could tweak our offense and put Derrick Henry back there. But if we're going to keep the same exact offense... You know who can throw? Kyle Hamilton. I think Kyle Hamilton would be [the pick].
