Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh and Orioles Manager Buck Showalter took some time away from their respective sports for a charity event and a little friendly competition Monday.
Harbaugh and Showalter, along with several other members of their two teams, participated in the "Battle of the Birds" golf outing to benefit Young Life at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills.
Harbaugh and Showalter squared off against each other in the same foursome, and Showalter's pair came away with a one-hole advantage on the day.
Overall, the Orioles finished with a 14-10 match play victory.
In addition to Harbaugh, quarterback Joe Flacco, tight end Dennis Pitta, kicker Justin Tucker and punter Sam Koch all played in the event. Former Ravens also participated, including kicker Matt Stover, wide receiver Qadry Ismail, tight end Todd Heap, long snapper Matt Katula and quarterback Chris Redman.
The Orioles had a strong contingency as well, including Manager Buck Showalter, catcher Matt Wieters, shortstop J.J. Hardy and pitcher Brian Matusz.
Each foursome included two donors and a member from the Ravens and Orioles. The teams were organized partially based on handicap to try to make the event as competitive as possible, and the pair played a "best ball" format throughout the round.

Koch's group topped the current Ravens, as his pair ended up with a three-hole advantage. Redman's pairing posted the best score of any Ravens with a four-hole advantage.
Pitta's pairing finished with a one-hole lead over Hardy and his partner, and Flacco was one hole behind his pairing. Ismail ended with a two-hole lead over Wieters' group and Stover's pairing was three holes behind Matusz' group.
