Add another accomplishment to kicker Justin Tucker's young career.
The rookie drilled all three of his field-goal attempts Sunday, giving the Ravens all of their points for a 9-6 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
"All three of them were just line them up and hit them," Tucker said in a matter-of-fact tone after the game.
The kicks were from 26, 28 and 39 yards, and all three were dead center through the uprights. On a night where the offense had problems moving the football and capitalizing on the Chiefs' mistakes and turnovers, the Ravens relied on Tucker to get points on the board.
"It's good to come through when my team needs me," Tucker said. "Give credit to our defense and offense, too, for just getting the job done in the fourth quarter when it mattered the most. It doesn't have to be pretty, but the end result is what we're all looking for."
One kick that appeared relatively close was Tucker's third on the day, the 39 yarder at the end of the third quarter.
Tucker explained the attempt may have looked hurried because the Ravens wanted the wind at their back for a kickoff to open the fourth quarter. So they opted to kick the field goal as time expired in the third, having confidence that Tucker could make the kick into the wind with the shorter distance.
It was a quick setup for Tucker and the field-goal team, but he drilled the kick as a Chiefs defender was bearing down on him for a potential block.
"We took the clock down a little bit, and where it may have looked like we rushed it, we had a plan," Tucker said. "The kick was good and we got the win. Everything was copasetic."
The game was just the second road test of Tucker's career, but he wasn't caught up in playing in the tough atmosphere at Arrowhead Stadium.
"It is a fun place to play for sure," Tucker said. "We got the job done, and that's the bottom line. It is always good to go into somebody else's battle ground and stake your claim on it like our offense and defense did today. It was a big day for us."
Tucker has made 11 of his 12 attempts on the year, and continues to drill clutch kicks in his rookie campaign.
