After two voluntary minicamps to kick off the John Harbaugh era of Baltimore football saw excellent attendance from many key players, every Raven is expected to be at team headquarters this weekend for a mandatory three-day session.
Held Friday, May 9, to Sunday, May 11, it will mark the first time all rookies, including quarterback Joe Flacco and running back Ray Rice, will mingle with the veterans.
All three days of practice will only be open to the media. The Ravens will hold two practices on both Friday and Saturday, and only one on Sunday.
During Harbaugh's first minicamp, April 17-19, the coach was impressed with the presence of many key veterans, who typically opt out of the initial voluntary events. Linebackers Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs, and defensive tackle Trevor Pryce were a few of the names to attend.
"The fact that most all of the guys are here, and the guys who were here and who they were [is a good sign]," the first-year coach said at the time. "I think it's impressive that No. 53 [the 53rd man on the roster] is here. I think it's impressive that No. 1 is here, whoever that is. It means a lot."
In addition to the 10 rookies recently drafted, the Ravens will announce their list of rookie free agents joining the team after the prospects have signed their contracts later this week.
Flacco, the second quarterback selected (18th overall) behind Atlanta's Matt Ryan, is looking forward for the chance to finally play football after a long and grueling draft process. The Delaware product will have every opportunity to contend with Kyle Boller and Troy Smith for a starting spot.
"I know these guys are going to give me an opportunity, but it's all about me," Flacco said. "It's about me getting in and working hard – just like coach said. I can't wait. I couldn't be more anxious to get in here and get started." Ravens Mandatory Minicamp
