The Ravens have added another piece to the secondary.
Baltimore signed defensive back Jermaine Whitehead from the San Francisco 49ers practice squad and cut tight end Richard Gordon.
Whitehead, 5-foot-11 and 193 pounds, is an undrafted rookie out of Auburn. He has spent the entire season with San Francisco.
Gordon spent just two weeks in Baltimore after the Broncos cut him earlier this month. He did not play in any games with Baltimore.
Adding Whitehead to the roster gives the Ravens additional depth in the secondary for the final two games, and it also gives them another young player to develop during the offseason. Whitehead had a knack for the football in college, and he led Auburn with six interceptions last season.
In addition to adding Whitehead to the active roster, the Ravens also signed running back Alonzo Harris to the practice squad. Harris is also an undrafted rookie free agent, and he spent the entire season with the Green Bay Packers.
Harris was active for six games and had four carries for 19 yards. The Packers cut him Dec. 3 and he has been a free agent since.
