The Ravens added another linebacker the day after Chris Board suffered a concussion in the team's second preseason game.

Baltimore signed Donald Payne Friday afternoon, bringing him back to where he got his start.

Payne signed with the Ravens as an undrafted rookie in 2017 and spent the summer with Baltimore. He didn't make the 53-man roster and was claimed off waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In two seasons with the Jaguars, Payne played in 21 games and made 15 tackles. He's a 5-foot-11, 217-pounder from Stetson University, where he was a three-time Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Year.

Outside of Board, the Ravens' other inside linebackers are Patrick Onwuasor, Nicholas Grigsby, Alvin Jones and undrafted rookies Otaro Alaka, E.J. Ejiya and Silas Stewart.

After Thursday night's game, Head Coach John Harbaugh indicated that the Ravens will give Board plenty of time to recover from the helmet-to-helmet shot that left him concussed.

"I just talked to him. He said he's fine, but concussions are like that," Harbaugh said. "We'll have to see how that goes. It doesn't seem to be serious, but that's one we will be very careful with."
