BALTIMORE (AP) -The Baltimore Ravens signed quarterback Casey Bramlet on Thursday.
Bramlet played last season for current Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron when both were with the Miami Dolphins. The quarterback signed during the offseason with San Diego, but was cut Tuesday.
Bramlet caught a late flight to Baltimore after being claimed on waivers and was expected to play in the Ravens' preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night. He was scheduled to relieve rookie starter Joe Flacco.
Flacco was forced into the starting lineup because Troy Smith has a viral illness, and Kyle Boller is nursing a shoulder injury that could keep him sidelined indefinitely.
The Ravens created a roster spot for Bramlet by cutting kicker Piotr Czech.
