The Ravens could get a big boost to morale on Wednesday.
Future Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis is expected to practice on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.
Lewis is just seven weeks removed from having surgery to repair torn triceps in his right arm, which landed him on the injured reserve-designated to return list. The original diagnosis was that the injury would end Lewis' season, but the Ravens put him on the designated to return list in hope that he could make a speedy recovery.
Lewis has been rehabbing in Baltimore at the Under Armour Performance Center since last Wednesday for the last two weeks, and he was originally eligible to return to practice last Thursday. He is first allowed to play in a game in Week 15 against the Denver Broncos.
"Ray is here rehabbing, so we'll see how that goes this week going forward," Head Coach John Harbaugh said on Monday. "[There is] nothing to report there. When there is, we'll let you know. We'll just see how that goes this week, and we'll let you know."
Getting Lewis back on the field could come at a much-needed time for a defense that is dealing with a variety of injuries. Outside linebacker Terrell Suggsreportedly has a torn biceps and his status is up in the air, and inside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe missed Sunday's game with thumb, ankle and knee injuries.
