Reports: Onwuasor to Join Mosley with Jets

After missing two games, he’s expected back after the bye. He looked like his old self in Week 5 against the Steelers, returning to weakside linebacker after four games at middle linebacker. An excellent tackler and blitzer, Onwuasor could be a key playmaker in the second half of the season.

Patrick Onwuasor and C.J. Mosley used to play side by side with the Ravens, and they will reportedly be reunited with the New York Jets.

The Jets and Onwuasor have reportedly agreed to terms on a new contract, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Onwausor will join close friend Mosley, a four-time Pro Bowl inside linebacker who left Baltimore in free agency last year. The Jets have become a popular destination for former Ravens' players since former Ravens scout Joe Douglas became the Jets' general manager last year. Other former Ravens who have landed with the Jets include cornerback Maurice Canady, running back Kenneth Dixon, defensive lineman Bronson Kaufusi, offensive lineman Alex Lewis and linebacker Albert McClellan. Former Ravens wide receiver Breshad Perriman has also reportedly agreed to terms with the Jets, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Onwausor spent four seasons with the Ravens after earning a roster spot as an undrafted free agent from Portland State in 2016. He excelled on special teams early in his career and eventually become a defensive regular with a career-high 90 tackles in 2017 and a career-high 5 ½ sacks in 2018.

However, Onwuasor struggled early in 2019 after he moved to middle linebacker to replace Mosley. Onwuasor's numbers fell to 64 tackles and three sacks last season, and his playing time diminished after the Ravens signed inside linebackers Josh Bynes and L.J. Fort, who the Ravens signed to a two-year contract extension in November.

For his career, Onwuasor had 234 tackles, 9 ½ sacks, five forced fumbles and one interception with the Ravens.
