S Terrence Brooks Conference Call

On which safety position he feels more comfortable playing: "To tell you the truth, either one. Florida State did a real good job of keeping us all interchangeable and versatile, so anywhere I'm plugged in, really, I can learn it fast and just get ready to go."

On his emotions when the Ravens drafted him: "I felt like they needed a safety. I just felt like a lot of teams needed a safety this year, and they just kept passing me up. So, I just knew that at least one of them was going to bite, and I'm glad it's the Ravens. They already have Timmy [Jernigan] there, and I love that team from just how physical they are. That's how I play my game – just so physical and mean – and I love being in that black. It's amazing."

On being reunited with FSU teammate DT Timmy Jernigan: "Honestly, it's kind of crazy, because the whole time I was like, 'If I could take one guy with me, it would be Timmy.' I just know we do damage together. We did it at Florida State; we can do it anywhere. I'm just real happy to have him with me, and I know there is another real strong safety over there in Matt Elam. I just can't wait to get into that physical defense. I'll feel right at home."

On being paired with former Florida Gator S Matt Elam in the secondary: "All I've got to say is we don't play for those teams anymore. We're working together now to get one common goal and set a certain standard out there. I can't wait to play with him. It's going to be amazing. I can't wait."

On if he feels he is ready to start immediately: "Definitely. That's my standard and my mindset going in. Florida State prepared me very well to take over a defense and just be the commander back there, so it wouldn't be a problem."

On if he was surprised at how fast he ran at the Combine: "Not at all. Being on that Florida State defense, they love speed, and I've always had it. It might not show up sometimes in the game, but for the most part, I knew I was one of the fastest guys on that team. So, it was nothing to just go to the Combine and prove that."

On how he would describe his game: "I feel like my game is very fast. When I make a decision, it's right away, and I get there pretty fast. I feel like my acceleration is one of my strong points, and that's great for a [defensive back] in [terms of] breaking on the ball. And pretty much that whole short-area speed, that's really good. But I'm a versatile player. I'm physical; I'm not scared to stick my nose in there. I'll go play in the box. Wherever I'm needed, that's what I'll do. I love playing special teams, and a lot of guys don't like doing that. But I love running down the field making tackles, covering guys – a lot of stuff."

On if he visited the Ravens or met with them at the Combine: "To tell you the truth, I can't even remember that much. It's all been a blur from that National Championship until now. It's been pretty crazy. I've always had a big interest in them, and I'm so glad they took the chance on me, because a lot of people, they underrate me, and they don't really give me a chance. They never really believe in me. So, I've carried that chip on my shoulder all the way through high school, and it's not going to stop. I always have something to work for. I'm never satisfied."
