Good luck beards only stay around if they're good luck.
Thus, after losing two straight, and heading into a critical game against the rival Pittsburgh Steelers, safety Eric Weddle and quarterback Joe Flacco both shaved their beards.
Weddle's is more noteworthy considering it was reaching all-time lengths and because it was a major part of his persona.
The origin of Weddle’s beard was his father. He saw a photo of his 22-year-old dad fishing in Mexico and wanted to grow an even better beard.
"My beard is legendary," Weddle said a few weeks ago. "His was much more bushy and full. It was a good-looking beard. Mine is unique. Mine's a beast – very beautiful."
Welp, fear the beard no longer. It was cut off on Friday.
Flacco shaved his beard early this week after an ugly loss in Carolina.
"I've been thinking about cutting it about every night for two weeks," Flacco said Wednesday. "It's not like we've been winning with it. So, we've all got a little bit of superstition in us, I guess."
