We all know the sound of an ice cream truck. It sounds like heaven on four wheels.
For Art Jones, the son of a pastor, it may be even better than heaven.
I think he captured what we were all feeling yesterday when he skipped to the truck, arms as wide as his grin. Actually, he looked a lot like he did on Feb. 3.
The Ravens seem to be starting a new tradition by rolling out ice cream trucks after the occasional hot training camp practice (could it be more than once this year?!).
They did it in 2011, and I remember it fondly to this day. So do the players.
Owner Steve Bisciotti, in his infinite awesomeness, bestowed it upon us. The lines were crazy long as players fought off ravenous reporters, some of whom may have gone back for seconds…
Really, the players can get ice cream any time they want in the cafeteria. There was even a time when Choco Tacos stuffed the freezer. But none of it was served to the strains of "Pop Goes The Weasel."
This time, however, the spoils were reserved for the day's victors: the defense. They feasted while guard Kelechi Osemele lamented to me about not winning the 11-on-11 drills. He said he had to watch his figure anyway, but I have a feeling he would've made an exception.
I've gotten questions about whether Courtney Upshaw or Bryant McKinnie, who've both battled weight issues, partook. McKinnie wasn't invited to the party since he's on offense, and I didn't see Upshaw in line.
I was happy to eat their share.
