Baltimore has never lost following the bye under Head Coach John Harbaugh.
If history is a predictor of the future, the Ravens should be in good position as they head into their Week 9 game in Cleveland.
"The bye week comes at a great time for us," Harbaugh said. "It's right about midseason. That's a big plus for us, and we're going to take advantage of it."
In 2008, Baltimore had its bye in Week 2 due to a hurricane that postponed their game in Houston. They beat Cleveland at home in Week 3, 28-10.
In 2009, the Ravens suffered a heartbreaking loss in Minnesota entering the bye when kicker Steve Hauschka missed a potential game-winning field goal at the end of regulation. Baltimore responded following the break with a 30-7 thumping of Denver at home.
In 2010, Baltimore went into the bye on the heels of an unexpected overtime squeaker over Buffalo. The Ravens handled Miami after the break, 26-10.
Last year, the Ravens went into the bye off a 17-point win against the New York Jets. Baltimore came out with a big 29-14 home win against Houston after the rest.
The Ravens' average margin of victory following the bye has been a healthy 18 points.
However, all four of the Ravens' games after the bye during the Harbaugh era have been at home. Two of the Ravens' three losses this year have come on the road and fixing that issue (particularly on offense) is a primary focus.
"We all have to be better on the road; that's something that we aren't happy with right now," Harbaugh said.
The Ravens also haven't lost to the Browns during Harbaugh's era. Cleveland does have a knack for keeping it close, however. The two teams' Week 4 matchup went down to a final heave into the end zone.
