The Ravens and free agent safety Ed Reed have both said they'd like to be in business together next year.
But if that doesn't happen, Baltimore will have a hole in its defensive backfield.
This year's draft offers a strong safety class, but there are also some interesting names on the free-agent market that could be in the Ravens' price range.
Here's a look at who's out there:
Charles Woodson, Green Bay PackersUnrestricted (16th season), 36, 6-1, 202
The eight-time Pro Bowler was cut by the Packers earlier this month. With a player his age, how much he has left in the tank is*always a concern *especially after Woodson missed 11 games last year due to a broken collarbone. But before that he was extremely dependable, missing just three games over the previous six seasons. He was productive too, notching seven interceptions in 2011.
Patrick Chung, New England Patriots
Unrestricted (5th season), 25, 5-foot-11, 210 pounds
Chung has been riddled with injuries during his short career. He missed four games last year, eight the year before, and hasn't played in all 16 since his rookie season. The former second-round pick never really panned out, and was part of New England's deficiencies in the secondary. When healthy, he's a talented, fast and physical patroller in the defensive backfield, and a quality special teams player.
Louis Delmas, Detroit Lions
Unrestricted (5th season), 25, 5-11, 202
Delmas is similar to Chung, a former high draft pick who has talent but hasn't been able to stay healthy. A knee injury last year knocked him out for eight games, and is still a question mark heading into this season. Delmas has been good when on the field, but isn't much of a ball-hawk with just three career interceptions. Still, he was a Pro Bowl alternate in 2010 and 2011.
LaRon Landry, New York Jets
Unrestricted (7th season), 28, 6-0, 220
The hard-hitting Landry was able to stay on the field last season, unlike previous years where he struggled with injuries. He played under a one-year contract in New York, seeing action in all 16 games and started 15, making 100 tackles and two interceptions. Landry was once considered one of the game's bright young safeties and the Jets are reportedly interested in re-signing him.
Madieu Williams, Washington Redskins
Unrestricted (10th season), 31, 6-1, 209
The Maryland product is known for being a sure tackler but his deep coverage skills are his strong suit. He played close to the line of scrimmage a lot last year. Williams started all 16 games and made 99 tackles, one sack and one interception. The Redskins' secondary was among the league's worst, but a change of scenery could help Williams.
