T. Smith, Yanda Listed As Questionable
The status for two Ravens offensive starters is up in the air heading into Sunday's game against the Giants.
Wide receiver Torrey Smith and right guard Marshal Yanda were both on the practice field Friday, but are listed as questionable.
Smith went down with a concussion last week against the Broncos, and Yanda missed the game because of an ankle injury he suffered against the Redskins. Yanda and Smith were limited participants in practice Thursday and Friday.
Yanda said his ankle felt "OK" after practicing Thursday, but he would not talk in detail about the injury. Smith did not talk with the media this week because he had not passed the NFL's baseline test required to return to full contact.
If Smith is not able to play, then Jacoby Jones would likely see some more action on offense.
Second-year receiver Tandon Doss would be the next likely candidate to fill in for Smith, but he has an ankle injury and is listed as questionable after missing practice all week. If Doss is not able to play, then David Reed would probably step into that role as the No. 4 receiver.
If Yanda can't go, then veteran Bobbie Williams would likely take his spot at right guard for the second straight week.
Pollard Doubtful With Chest Injury
The Ravens could be without a key defensive back for the second week in a row, as safety Bernard Pollard is questionable with a chest injury.
He missed last week's game and was unable to practice all week because of the injury.
"We'll see," Pollard said when asked about his chances to play Sunday. "I don't complain man. I'm just going to go play some ball and I'm going to do everything I can to be out there with my boys, and we'll see."
If Pollard can't play, then James Ihedigbo would likely take his spot in the lineup.
Pierce, Leach Both Questionable
The other player working his way back from a concussion is backup running back Bernard Pierce, who also suffered the injury last week. He did not practice all week and is also listed as questionable in the final injury report.
Like Smith, he has not taken the baseline test and did not speak with the media this week.
Starting fullback Vonta Leach practiced as a limited participant Friday. It was his first practice of the week after taking some extra time to rest his injured ankle. He has been dealing with the ankle injury for a couple weeks and is listed as questionable.
Leach, however, is confident he will be able to play.
"My ankle is very good," Leach told the media. "Yeah I'll be able to go Sunday, that's not a question."
Ellerbe, McClellan Both Questionable
The Ravens' banged-up linebacker corps could be without two starters again Sunday.
Dannell Ellerbe (ankle) and Albert McClellan (thigh/shoulder) are both questionable after being limited participants during practice all week. Ellerbe has missed three straight games and McClellan just went down with the injury last week.
"I feel like my ankle is getting better," Elllerbe told the media. "It's still going to be a gametime decision, but I'm hopeful. I got faith that I'll be healed enough to play and help out the team."
Ellerbe tried to warm up before last week's game, but wasn't healthy enough to play and the Ravens decided to deactivate him.
If Ellerbe can't play, then Brendon Anyanbadejo and Josh Bynes could fill in for him. If McClellan is out, then Courtney Upshaw or Paul Kruger could see more snaps at outside linebacker.
The other big question at linebacker is whether Ray Lewis is able to return this week. He is eligible to play if the Ravens activate him from the injured reserve-designated to return list by 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Ravens have an open roster spot because linebacker Jameel McClain (season-ending neck injury) has yet to be moved to injured reserve, and they could potentially use that spot for Lewis.
Suggs, Dickson Probable
The other key linebacker working through an injury is outside linebacker Terrell Suggs, who has a biceps tear. He was a full participant in practice all week and is probable on the injury report.
He played about half of the defensive snaps last week against the Broncos. If he and Lewis both suit up, then it would be the first time this season that both of them are on the field together.
The other starter who could be making a return to the lineup is tight end Ed Dickson (knee), who fully participated in practice Friday and is listed as probable. He has missed three straight games, but the Ravens could look to get him back on the field this week.
The other players listed as probable are safeties Ed Reed (shoulder) and Ihedigbo (neck), defensive tackle Arthur Jones (shoulder), defensive end Pernell McPhee (thigh), cornerback Jimmy Smith (abdomen) and wide receivers Deonte Thompson (thigh) and LaQuan Williams (thigh).
