The third game of the preseason is generally seen as the starters' final tune-up.
Thus, it's fans' best opportunity to get a look at what the team may be like in 2012.
Head Coach John Harbaugh said the Ravens starters will get about three quarters against the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday night.
"We'll just kind of work back from there with guys and as far as how many reps they get and see how it goes," Harbaugh said. "I'd like to see them get a lot of good, extended work."
Some starters, including linebacker Ray Lewis and safety Ed Reed, may get less than three quarters.
Team Could Be Cautious With Yanda
Pro Bowl Guard Marshal Yanda was absent from Tuesday's practice after a collision that ended his day early Monday.
Outside linebacker Chavis Williams was hit hard by tight end Billy Bajema and fell into Yanda's lower leg. Yanda briefly went to the ground, then walked to the sideline.
"He kind of tweaked it a little bit," Harbaugh said, not specifying the exact injury.
"It's nothing serious, but we had a little pileup there, which we were kind of disappointed by. It wasn't anyone's fault. We just gave [Yanda] some rest today."
Considering it was just rest, Yanda may play Thursday. Then again, the team could always be cautious.
Yanda has played through much worse injuries. He played in Cincinnati for the regular-season finale after having emergency surgery on his right leg last year to allow proper blood flow.
Kindle And Considine Not Yet Cleared For Contact
Outside linebacker Sergio Kindle and safety Sean Considine have donned the red, non-contact jersey since Sunday's practice.
Kindle left Friday's game with a sprained shoulder. He's gone through individual work, but not the 11-on-11 portions of practice.
Considine got "dinged" during the game, according to Harbaugh. Considine said he didn't get hurt but doctors say otherwise. His exact injury is unknown. Harbaugh did not give an update on whether they would face the Jaguars.
Linebacker Darryl Blackstock (unspecified) was not present Tuesday after practicing Sunday and Monday.
McPhee Tending To Family
Defensive end Pernell McPhee has missed the past three practices because of a death in his family.
Harbaugh did not say whether McPhee will play Thursday night, but players who haven't practiced generally don't suit up.
McPhee played in the Ravens' first two preseason games, recording one tackle in Atlanta and two against Detroit.
Reid Still Out
After having his first two practices of training camp last week, offensive lineman Jah Reid is back on the sideline with a reported re-aggravated calf injury and is unlikely to play Thursday.
He was a surprise scratch from last Friday's home preseason opener, and hasn't practiced in the three sessions since.
Reid was originally carted off the field with the calf during minicamp.
"It's disappointing to not be out there helping the team," Reid told The Baltimore Sun. "It's aggravated right now. We're working on it. Hopefully, I can be back soon. It's not as bad as the first two times I hurt it. It just takes time. I thought I was going to be able to play, but I need to make more progress."
No Surprises Here
There's a series of other players who definitely will not be suiting up: tight ends Ed Dickson (shoulder) and Dennis Pitta (hand), defensive tackle Ryan McBean (ankle), wide receiver David Reed (knee), linebacker Josh Bynes (back) and outside linebacker Terrell Suggs (Achilles).
