Defensive Coordinator Zach Orr is known for his passion on the sidelines, and he couldn't contain himself against the Texans on Christmas.
After Ar'Darius Washington crushed Texans running back Joe Mixon for a fourth down stop on the 1-yard line, Orr came flying in when Washington made it to the sideline, jumping on top of the safety and crashing to the turf.
After Baltimore's dominant 31-2 win over the Texans where the Ravens defense pitched a shutout, the former Ravens linebacker took to social media, saying he's "going to need an ice bath tonight! Pumped for my guys!"
When it happened, Washington didn't react to his coach taking flight, but after the game he relived the sequence.
"I was just so turnt out there. I don't know. I saw [Orr] flying towards the end, but in the moment, I was just in the moment at that time," Washington said. "[He was] screaming, 'Let's go.'"
It was a full-circle game for Orr, who played his last football game eight years ago on Christmas. After suffering an injury in that game, X-rays revealed he had a congenital spine condition that forced him to immediately retire after only three seasons and just as his playing career was taking off.
Now in his first year as a defensive coordinator, Orr's defense that had some early-season struggles is rounding into form down the stretch.
"It's a good lesson for everything else besides football too – keep things in perspective. You can improve. You can get better," Head Coach John Harbaugh said.
"I'm proud of those guys, Zach, obviously, spearheading it [and senior advisor] Dean Pees helping us, of course. Let's look at all the players and all the coaches and what a great job they've done. But you know what? We're just getting started."
