Zay Flowers Is Active vs. Texans

WR Zay Flowers
WR Zay Flowers

Leading Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers (shoulder) is active on Christmas Day against the Houston Texans.

Flowers, who leads Baltimore in catches (71) and receiving yards (1,016) with four touchdowns, took a hard hit at the end of a 49-yard catch and run Saturday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite having a short week to recover, Flowers returned to practice Tuesday in a limited capacity and will continue his streak of never missing a game due to injury during his two-year career.

Wide receiver/returner Steven Sims, who the Ravens claimed off waivers on Monday, is active and available to take over the punt return duties against his former team.

Tre'Davious White (shoulder) is active after being listed as questionable and will be available as part of the cornerback rotation behind Marlon Humphrey, Brandon Stephens, and Nate Wiggins.

On Tuesday the Ravens ruled out No. 2 running back Justice Hill and wide receiver Nelson Agholor due to concussions. Hill left Saturday's win early after a scary moment and Agholor will miss his second straight game. Cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis (hamstring) will also miss a second consecutive contest.

With Hill inactive, running back Keaton Mitchell is active for the first time since Nov. 25 against the Los Angeles Chargers and will join Rasheen Ali in the rotation behind Derrick Henry. Mitchell's breakaway speed added an explosive dimension to Baltimore's backfield last season when he rushed for 396 yards and two touchdowns and averaged 8.4 yards per carry.

Mitchell played in three games earlier this year but took just four offensive snaps. To say Mitchell is eager for action would be an understatement.

"I'm as antsy as it gets," Mitchell said earlier this week. "It's been a year, been too long. So I'm ready."

In addition to Hill, Agholor, and Armour-Davis, the Ravens' other inactives are:

  • FS Marcus Williams
  • OLB Adisa Isaac
  • C Nick Samac

For the Texans, wide receiver Diontae Johnson, who the Texans claimed off waivers after being released by the Ravens, is inactive.

Defensive end Denico Autry (knee) is active after being limited all week.

Starting guard Shaq Mason (knee) was ruled out Tuesday and will be replaced by former Steeler Kendrick Green. The Texans lost wide receiver Tank Dell (knee) and safety Jimmie Ward (foot) to season-ending injuries last weekend.
