Biography

GEORGE WARHOP joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2024 with 40 years of coaching experience, including 27 years guiding NFL offensive line units. He previously spent time with the Texans (2022), Jaguars (2019-21), Buccaneers (2014-18), Browns (2009-13), 49ers (2005-08), Cowboys (2003-04), Cardinals (1998-2002) and Rams (1996-97). Prior to entering the NFL ranks with St. Louis, he served 11 seasons as a collegiate coach at Boston College (1994-95), SMU (1993), New Mexico (1990), Vanderbilt (1987-89), Kansas (1984-86) and his alma mater, Cincinnati (1983). Warhop also spent two seasons (1991-92) as the offensive coordinator for the London Monarchs of the World League of American Football.

  • Has helped guide countless Pro Bowl offensive linemen throughout his coaching career, including T Laremy Tunsil (2022), G Logan Mankins (2015), T Joe Thomas (2009-13), C Alex Mack (2010, 2013), G Larry Allen (2003-04, 2006) and T Flozell Adams (2003-04).

2022: (with Houston) Helped guide T Laremy Tunsil, who anchored the left side of Houston's offensive line, to his third-career Pro Bowl…Tunsil led the league with an elite 91.7 PFF pass-blocking grade after surrendering just 1 sack, 3 QBHs and 13 hurries across 639 pass-blocking snaps.

2019-21: (with Jacksonville) 2021: Guided a Jacksonville offensive line that blocked for first-year QB Trevor Lawrence, who set a franchise rookie record in passing yards (3,641)…Lawrence also led all rookies with 359 completions and posted the second-most passing yards (3,641) and rushing yards (334) among the rookie class. 2020: Warhop's unit paved the way for standout undrafted rookie free agent RB James Robinson…Robinson became just the third rookie in franchise history to eclipse 1,000 yards rushing. 2019: Jacksonville's offensive line helped RB Leonard Fournette accrue a career-high 1,674 scrimmage yards (1,152 rushing, 522 receiving), including 50-plus scrimmage yards in all 15 games he played…Fournette's 111.6 scrimmage yards per game ranked fourth in the NFL…Also, QB Gardner Minshew II threw for the then-most yards (3,271) and TDs (21) than any first-year signal-caller in Jaguars history…Rookie T Jawaan Taylor was named to the All-Rookie Team by the Pro Football Writers of America after playing all 1,091 offensive snaps.

2014-18: (with Tampa Bay) Guided the offensive line throughout his Tampa Bay tenure, while also earning run game coordinator responsibilities for three seasons (2016-18). 2018: Instructed a unit that paved the way for the league's best passing offense (320.3 ypg), also ranking No. 3 in total offense (415.5 ypg) and on third down (46.0%)…Helped RB Peyton Barber gain a career-high 871 rushing yards. 2017: Led a unit that ranked fourth in both passing yards per game (272.9) and third-down conversion percentage (43.4%). 2016: Tampa Bay's offense ranked sixth (43.9%) in third-down conversion percentage. 2015: The Buccaneers' offensive line cleared the way for a rushing attack that averaged the fifth-most total yards per game (375.9) and rushing yards per game (135.1), as Pro Bowl RB Doug Martin finished second in the NFL with 1,402 rushing yards…Veteran G Logan Mankins received a Pro Bowl nod, while Smith and G Ali Marpet both earned PFWA All-Rookie team honors. 2014: Joined the Buccaneers as offensive line coach.

2009-13: (with Cleveland) Spent five seasons as the offensive line coach for the Browns, helping Hall of Fame T Joe Thomas earn Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors each season…Additionally, C Alex Mack earned an All-Rookie selection in 2009, as well as Pro Bowl berths in 2010 and 2013.

2005-08: (with San Francisco) Spent four seasons as the 49ers' offensive line coach, helping his unit pave the way for three consecutive (2006-08) 1,000-yard rushing seasons by RB Frank Gore, including a then-franchise-record 1,695 rushing yards in 2006. 2007: Oversaw the development of rookie T Joe Staley, who became the first rookie offensive lineman in 49ers history to start every game. 2006: Guided a unit that blocked for the league's sixth-most productive rushing attacking (135.8 ypg)…Gore posted a career-high and then-franchise-record 1,695 rushing yards, while adding 8 ground scores, en route to Pro Bowl honors and PFWA's Most Improved Player award…G Larry Allen was also selected to the Pro Bowl.

2003-04: (with Dallas) Helped T Flozell Adams and G Larry Allen earn Pro Bowl berths both years.

1998-2002: (with Arizona) Spent five seasons with the Cardinals, tutoring the group through a steady decline in sacks allowed, from 78 in 1997 – the year before his arrival – to 50 in 1998, 45 in 1999, 35 in 2000 and 29 in 2001.

1996-97: (with St. Louis) Got his start in the NFL as an assistant offensive line coach.

1983-1990, 1993-95: (with multiple college teams) Was an offensive line coach in the collegiate ranks with Boston College (1994-95), SMU (1993), New Mexico (1990), Vanderbilt (1987-89) and Kansas (1984-86), after serving as a student assistant with his alma mater, Cincinnati (1983).

1991-92: (with London Monarchs) Served as the offensive coordinator for the London Monarchs of the World League of American Football, helping them to a World Bowl title in 1991.

COLLEGE: Played guard at Mount San Jacinto (CA) College, before moving on to the University of Cincinnati and excelling at center for the Bearcats in the early 1980s.

PERSONAL: A native of Riverside, CA, Warhop was a standout offensive lineman at local Rubidoux HS, where he graduated in 1979…He and his wife, Lori, have one son, Jacob, and one daughter, Olivia.
