After 41 seasons working for the Ravens franchise, Kevin Byrne officially retired in May 2020. However, he remains on staff as a consultant to the team through the 2021 season. He is an original Raven, moving with then-owner Art Modell from Cleveland in January of 1996. Byrne, who is one of the most highly-respected public relations officials in sports, was a vice president with the Browns from 1981-95 prior to the team's move to Baltimore. Led by Byrne, the Ravens' PR staff earned three (2010, 2012 & 2016) Pete Rozelle Awards, voted by the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA). The award is given to the NFL PR team that consistently strives for excellence in its service for and relationships with the media. Following the 2019 season, Byrne was nominated for the PFWA's Jack Horrigan Award – given to a league or club official for his or her qualities and professional style in helping the pro football writers do their job. Over the course of his career, Byrne has also provided media relations assistance at 25 Super Bowls and two Pro Bowls at the NFL's request. In 2012, Byrne accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquette's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at the university's annual alumni awards ceremony. Byrne, who was on the committee to select Super Bowl-winning head coaches Brian Billick and John Harbaugh, attended St. Edward (Lakewood, OH) HS and was named the St. Edward Alumnus of the Year (2000). He and his wife, Sally, are the parents of Shannon, Sean, Tim and Conor, and the grandparents of Tim's son, Wyatt (11).
