Stock Watch: Ravens at Packers, Preseason 3

WR Tylan Wallace
WR Tylan Wallace

WR Tylan Wallace

Wallace has been a steady performer throughout training camp, and he made a splash play with a 48-yard catch and run for a touchdown in the second quarter, stretching the ball out to reach the pylon. Wallace showed that he can make plays on offense beyond what he offers on special teams, helping boost his already solid chances of making the roster.

ILB Trenton Simpson

Though he'll be a Week 1 starter, Simpson still played into the third quarter of the preseason finale to get more game reps for the second-year linebacker. He made it pay off in the third quarter when he came up with an interception in zone coverage. Simpson has stacked days throughout the summer, and he finished strong in the preseason finale, showing he's ready to step into Patrick Queen's former spot.

QB Devin Leary

Leary threw two interceptions in his most extensive action of the preseason. He started down tight end Qadir Ismail both times. The first one, Leary threw the ball right to defensive lineman Arron Mosby, who was dropping underneath into coverage. The second time, Leary tried to squeeze a bullet past linebacker Kristian Welch, who tipped it and picked it off himself. The Ravens may opt to keep just two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. If so, a practice squad spot would come down to Leary or undrafted rookie Emory Jones, who threw a long touchdown pass last week. Leary finished the preseason 15-of-28 for 95 yards and two interceptions.

S Beau Brade

Brade led the Ravens in tackles (eight) for the second straight preseason game. He shot a gap on the Packers' opening drive to make a tackle for loss and had a couple more big hits. Brade has been competing with fellow rookie Sanoussi Kane for a possible No. 4/5 safety spot on the 53-man roster and put his best foot forward again.

OLB David Ojabo

Ojabo had a quick win on first down of the Packers' second offensive drive and closed ground fast to get a quarterback hit. Green Bay tried to block Ojabo with a tight end and it did not work out well. Ojabo shined in the two preseason games he played in.

Offensive Line

Three possible Ravens starting offensive linemen started this game: Andrew Vorhees at left guard, Daniel Faalele at right guard, and Roger Rosengarten at right tackle. Faalele had a false start on the Ravens' opening drive, and backup left tackle Josh Jones let a rusher go untouched, resulting in a strip sack touchdown. The Ravens' first six carries went for just 10 yards, which included one 8-yard carry.

CB Nate Wiggins

Back in action after missing the second game due to the shoulder injury suffered in the first preseason game, Wiggins shut down a third-down throw on the Packers' second offensive drive. What drew even more attention may have been how many mouthguards Wiggins wears on top of his helmet.

OLB Joe Evans

The undrafted rookie had two quarterback hits in the first quarter, both leading to incompletions. The Iowa product has impressed teammates with his relentlessness, not to mention his basketball shot.

CB Pepe Williams

Williams surrendered an 18-yard touchdown on a fade to wide receiver Bo Melton in which Melton stacked Williams on his back and the shorter defensive back couldn't get to the ball. Williams also lost contain on a couple running plays and gave up an 8-yard completion on third-and-6. Williams has had a good camp, but it's a deep and competitive secondary competing for spots.
