Projected Starters
Madubuike became one of the league's top defensive linemen last season with a breakout 13-sack season. No defensive tackle in the league had more. He has even higher goals after signing a lucrative contract extension. Pierce stayed healthy last season for the first time since 2017 and proved he can still be one of the top nose tackles in the NFL. The Ravens then mix and match their use of a third down lineman between Washington, Jones, and Urban.
588: Justin Madubuike Talks Contract, Motivation, Family After Inking Extension
Ravens DT Justin Madubuike joins team insiders Ryan Mink and Garrett Downing to talk about his four-year contract extension and what he plans to prove next.
Best Battle
The Ravens know their top five defensive linemen in line to make the 53-man roster. It's more about jockeying for roles and snaps. Who will see the third-most action behind Madubuike and Pierce? Jones held that distinction last year with 453 snaps, and he's looking for more after slimming down and focusing on his pass rush this offseason. He could take more off Pierce's plate. Washington had 411 snaps and Urban took 280.
Under the Radar
After signing a three-year contract extension last August, Washington's stats dropped from the year prior. Washington logged 49 tackles in 2022 and 18 last season. He did double his sack total. Washington is in phenomenal shape this offseason and looks primed to have a better season. If he does, the Ravens' defensive line will be one of the team's greatest strengths.
