Veteran safety Eddie Jackson (non-injury related) did not travel to Pittsburgh with the team and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Jackson has played 55% of the defensive snaps in nine games this season with 18 tackles, one pass defended, and one quarterback hit. However, he played a season-low 10 snaps in Week 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals and was inactive Week 9 against the Denver Broncos for the first time this season.
The 30-year-old Jackson was signed in July to provide depth in the secondary behind Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams. Hamilton said Friday that he will play in Pittsburgh after suffering an ankle injury in Baltimore's 35-34 victory over the Bengals.
With Jackson not available, Ar'Darius Washington could continue playing a large role in the safety rotation after playing a season-high 72% of the defensive snaps against Cincinnati. Rookie safety Sanoussi Kane has been a regular contributor on special teams but has played just 12 defensive snaps. Rookie safety Beau Brade did not play a defensive snap against the Bengals, but he has been active three of the last four games while seeing action on special teams.
In a roster move, inside linebacker Kristian Welch has been elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's game. Welch has played two games exclusively on special teams since being signed on Oct. 16. This is Welch's third elevation, meaning he would need to sign to the 53-man roster in order to play for the Ravens again this season.
