The advent of summer means that it's time for many Ravens to hit the links, and long snapper **Matt Katula **is inviting fans to join him on the golf course.
Through the Matt Katula Foundation, the four-year veteran is hosting his inaugural Katula Foundation Golf Outing June 16 at Bulle Rock Golf Course.
To Katula, the idea of a golf tournament was a no-brainer. He is a regular golfer, and not just at offseason charity tournaments of fellow athletes.
"It's a sport I love to play, so why not start a competition of my own," said Katula, who sports a 3.1 handicap according to the Maryland State Golf Association. "I've played in some of the other tournaments our players have, like C-Mac's [Chris McAlister], so this was a way to get in on the fun."
Katula has big plans for his inaugural event, complete with a silent and live auction and raffles.
"I'm pretty excited about some of the items we've brought in for the auctions," he said. "The spa packages should be the first thing to go so guys can get out of the dog house.
"Then you can go for the fitted clubs and jackets," he added with a laugh.
Participants will be treated to a fitting of Zero Restriction outerwear before the shotgun start, and the company will have a personalized vest waiting for the golfers at the end of their round.
In addition to the spa packages and golf equipment, the tournament will also feature various Ravens and Orioles memorabilia, a golf experience in Pinehurst, N.C. and other valuable prizes.
