News & Notes: Rashod Bateman's Injury Is 'Not a Long-Term Thing'

Head Coach John Harbaugh gave injury updates on several Ravens Monday, including starting wide receiver Rashod Bateman, who limped off the field Sunday with a sore knee and did not return.

"He had treatment today; it's not a long-term thing," Harbaugh said. "A lot of guys have these kind of things late in the season. The bye week I think will really help a lot."

Nickel cornerback Arthur Maulet (calf/knee) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, meaning the earliest he could return would be the regular-season finale against the Cleveland Browns. Harbaugh said it was uncertain if Maulet will play again this season.

"I think there's hope, remains to be seen," Harbaugh said. "That's one of those ones that's up in the air."

Rookie safety Sanoussi Kane, who has been a key contributor on special teams, left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury.

"It's not a major hamstring," Kane said. "He'll be working through that and we'll see how he is for the next game."

Running back Keaton Mitchell was inactive for the first time against the Eagles since returning from last year's major knee injury. Rookie running back Rasheen Ali averaged 31.0 yards on two kickoff returns, taking Mitchell's place in that role. Harbaugh said Mitchell was still working through some physical things.

"No one expected physical challenges, but there's definitely physical challenges with what he's gone through," Harbaugh said. "That was a very serious knee injury. He came back as quick as he possible could from it.

"I also wanted to give Rasheen a chance. He's been working hard, and you saw it on the kickoff return – saw how explosive he looked on that. It just made sense to kind of give Keaton a little rest and give Rasheen a chance. I like those two guys. They'll both be in the mix going forward."

Harbaugh Waiting to Give Update on Diontae Johnson

Wide receiver Dionte Johnson, who was acquired in a trade with the Carolina Panthers last month, did not see action against the Eagles even after Bateman left the game.

Harbaugh said more information on Johnson's status would be forthcoming.

"At this time, I'm going to have to wait just to clarify it," Harbaugh said. "There's some moving parts there that we're going to have to figure out and explore and just see where we're at. I know that's not the answer you want, but that's the best I can do in fairness to everybody right now."

Johnson has one catch in five games since joining the Ravens.

Ravens 'Pretty Well Set' on Offensive Line

The Ravens' offensive line has rounded into a strength this year, but it had a tough game against the Philadelphia Eagles' defensive front.

Eagles defensive tackles Jalen Carter and Milton Williams had a combined 17 quarterback pressures, per Pro Football Focus, and big Jordan Davis slowed down Baltimore's run game.

Harbaugh was asked whether he foresees making any changes on the offensive line coming out of the bye.

"I think we're pretty well set there," he said. "I think those guys could come in – the other guys that are working hard – can come in and help us, but I'm not down on anybody on the offensive line.

"That's a really good [defensive] front we played against. I think we could have played better, especially in pass protection. Those guys would tell you that it could have been better, even in the run blocking sometimes, for sure, but I don't think it merits any drastic changes right now."

Harbaugh was particularly complimentary of Patrick Mekari, who has started every game, first at right tackle and then left guard. Harbaugh has previously talked about managing Mekari's workload, but he's played every snap since Week 3.

"I think he deserves a lot of credit for that," Harbaugh said. "He's played very good football."

Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry Lead Pro Bowl Early Voting

The Ravens will likely be well represented with Pro Bowlers again this year, though they of course hope not to make the trip.

Baltimore has the two leading vote getters one week into fan voting with quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry.

The Ravens have many other top contenders, including potential Pro Bowl returns such as safety Kyle Hamilton, center Tyler Linderbaum, linebacker Roquan Smith, cornerback Marlon Humphrey, fullback Patrick Ricard, left tackle Ronnie Stanley, and defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike. Plus, Baltimore has some strong first-time contenders with wide receiver Zay Flowers, outside linebackers Odafe Oweh and Kyle Van Noy, and more.
