Season in Review
The Ravens had three new starters along the offensive line – at both guard spots and right tackle – when the year began. A second-round rookie, Rosengarten stepped in as a full-time starter at right tackle in Week 4 and Mekari moved to left guard. That combination consistently improved and gelled as the season went on and finished as Pro Football Focus’ ninth-best offensive line in the league.
Baltimore's offensive line proved many of the skeptics wrong, as it helped pave the way for the league's top rushing attack and Derrick Henry's nearly 2,000 yards rushing. It also surrendered just 24 sacks, which was the third fewest in the league.
The progress made by Rosengarten and Faalele, who made the transition from tackle to hulking guard, was especially rewarding and a good sign for the future development of the unit, which may undergo more changes this offseason.
What to Watch This Offseason
What happens with Stanley is the biggest question mark, as he played at a Pro Bowl level last season and is at a premier position. He's projected to be the top left tackle on the market and could garner a sizeable contract. If he and the Ravens don't come to an agreement, or Baltimore doesn't put the franchise tag on him, there's a hole to fill. Rosengarten did play left tackle some in college, and could make the shift, but that would open a spot at right tackle.
Mekari has also been a very valuable player, both last season as a full-time starter and previously as a sixth offensive lineman with the versatility to start at every spot. If he isn't retained, the Ravens could turn to Andrew Vorhees at left guard but may also want to add more competition and versatility, especially with Jones and Cleveland also being pending free agents.
"We are aware that we have some guys whose contracts are up, and we'll look at that and certainly have some discussions with players," General Manager Eric DeCosta said at season's end. "We'll look at potentially bringing back our guys; we'll look at the draft; we'll look at free agency. We'll overturn every rock to find as many good offensive linemen as we can."
