Game Recap: Ravens Fall to Steelers in AFC North Showdown

Score Graphic site (6)

Baltimore's league-leading offense struggled Sunday as the Ravens fell to the Steelers, 18-16, at Acrisure Stadium. The win pushed the Steelers to 8-2 and further set back the Ravens (7-4) in the AFC North race.

The Ravens defense held Pittsburgh out of the end zone all game, but Chris Boswell booted six field goals while Justin Tucker missed two.

Baltimore had a chance to tie the game with a little over a minute remaining, but the two-point conversion attempt failed.

Here's how it happened:

Turning Point

A clutch end zone interception gave the Ravens the ball trailing by five in the fourth quarter, but the Ravens gave it right back. On a deep shot from Lamar Jackson to Justice Hill, it looked like Hill had caught it, but Payton Wilson stripped the ball from Hill for an interception.

The Steelers got a field goal off the turnover to go ahead, 18-10, and the Ravens scored to get within two, but that's when Pittsburgh blew up Baltimore's two-point attempt.

On potential tying play, Jackson rolled out to his left, but Pittsburgh's front got pressure and as Jackson was falling to the ground, he tossed the ball in the air but it fell incomplete.

Top Play

Marlon Humphrey had a clutch interception in the back of the end zone on third down in the fourth quarter.

With the Ravens trailing by five and about nine minutes remaining, a touchdown from Pittsburgh would have put the Ravens in a deep hole, but Humphrey came up with the huge turnover on an overthrown pass.

The play came after linebacker Roquan Smith left the game earlier in the drive with a hamstring injury. He did not return.

Stock Watch

OLB Odafe Oweh

For the second time this season, Oweh had 2.5 sacks in the game. On Sunday, they all came in the first half. He now leads the team with 7.5 on the season. Oweh's final sack came on third-and-4 in Baltimore territory, forcing the Steelers to kick a field goal.

Baltimore's Secondary

The Ravens came into the game surrendering the most passing yards in the NFL, but Sunday was their best performance of the season. Wilson passed for 205 yards as the Ravens didn't surrender a touchdown.

K Justin Tucker

Tucker's difficult season continued Sunday as he missed two first-half field goals. Tucker has already missed more field goals this season (six) than he did all of last year (5). Tucker bounced back by drilling a 54-yard field goal in the third quarter.

QB Lamar Jackson

Jackson had his toughest game of the season, going 16-of-33 for 207 yards and a touchdown and interception in Pittsburgh. Jackson has been the best quarterback in the NFL this season, but the narrative of his struggles against the Steelers defense will continue. He's now 1-4 against Pittsburgh as a starter.

Up Next

The Ravens travel to Los Angeles to face the Chargers (6-3) on "Monday Night Football" in Week 12. Brothers John and Jim Harbaugh, who is in his first season as the Chargers head coach, will square off for the first time since Super Bowl XLVII.
