Who Ravens Fans Should Root for in Divisional Playoffs

div who to

Houston Texans (AFC's No. 4 seed) @ Kansas City Chiefs (No. 1 seed)

Saturday, 4:30 p.m., ESPN/ABC

If the Texans upset the two-time defending champion Chiefs, that would mean the winner of Ravens-Bills will host the AFC Championship game.

A Texans win won't be easy, though. The Chiefs are 15-1 this season when Patrick Mahomes plays, including a 27-19 win over Houston in Week 16. Mahomes and some key Chiefs starters haven't played since Christmas Day. Will they be fresh or rusty?

If the Texans and Ravens win, Baltimore will host the AFC title game for the second consecutive year. The Ravens dominated the Texans on the road in Week 17, winning 31-2, and Baltimore's defense has kept Houston's offense out of the end zone across three games in the past two seasons.

However, even if the Chiefs win, both the Ravens and Bills have shown they can hang with Kansas City. Baltimore came within a toe (and two-point conversion) of beating the Chiefs on the road in Week 1, and the Bills gave Kansas City its lone loss with Mahomes this season.

Root for: Texans

Washington Commanders (NFC's No. 6 seed) @ Detroit Lions (No. 1 seed)

Saturday, 8 p.m., FOX

Jayden Daniels led Washington to its first postseason win in nearly 20 years last weekend as the standout rookie is putting together a historic season. He will have a tough test this weekend against the NFC's No. 1 seed in the Lions, coming off their first-round bye.

The Ravens took care of the Commanders earlier this season and have historically been great against rookie quarterbacks. Looking ahead to the Super Bowl, a matchup with Washington would likely be the best outcome for the Ravens.

Root for: Commanders

Los Angeles Rams (NFC's No. 5 seed) @ Philadelphia Eagles (No. 2 seed)

Sunday, 3 p.m., NBC/Peacock

The Rams rebounded from a rough start and now head into Philly looking for an upset. Both teams are playing strong football right now, but the Eagles beat Baltimore earlier in the season and were able to contain the Ravens offense. A rematch with Philadelphia could be a tough draw in the Super Bowl.
